La Playa Arena Gorda está situado al norte de la zona turística de Punta Cana y está limitado por la Playa El Cortecito (que es parte de Playa Bávaro ). El nombre de « Arena gorda » no es porque el grano de arena sea gorda o gruesa, sino por la amplia extensión de arena que posee esta playa (una de las playas de arena blanca más amplias del país).
